How to set up auto login in your Windows 10 PC

Are you irritated by entering the login password to unlock screen repeatedly? Want to get rid of this? Then the auto-login feature will help you; it is provided for your  convenience. Log in screen is a security feature of Microsoft Windows that prevents your system from unauthorized access. So, setting up auto login may be a security risk. If you are not concerned about the security and want your computer to boot directly, then you can use the feature. Here are three ways for you to set up auto login in Windows 10.

Three simple ways to set up auto login in Windows 10:
1.    Change the Sign In settings from Settings.
2.    Configure the login options via User Account Panel.
3.    Modify the Windows Registry and enable auto login.
Way 1: Change the Sign In settings from Settings.
This is the simplest way to bypass the login screen and open it without entering the login password. Use the below steps to change the sign in options.
1.    Go to ‘Start Menu.’
2.    Open ‘Settings’.
3.    Go to ‘Accounts.’
4.    Then go to ‘Sign-in’ options.
5.    Under ‘Require Sign-in,’ select ‘Never.’
6.    Go to the bottom of the PIN section.
7.    Click ‘Remove.’
Once you’ve changed the sign-in settings, your OS will boot right to the desktop without requiring any password. If it does not work, check out the next tricks.
Way 2: Configure the login options via User Account Panel.
Tired of entering the login password every time to access your desktop even when the system is asleep? Configure the login settings and bypass the login screen with automatic login. Use the below steps to configure the login settings.
1.    Press ‘Win + R’ key.
2.    Type “netplwiz” in the field.
3.    Choose the user account.
4.    Look for the option ‘Users must enter a user name & password to use the computer’ and uncheck it.
5.    Click ‘Apply.’
6.    In the Sign In dialog box, enter your password into the field.
7.    Confirm password.
8.    Click ‘OK.’
That’s it! Now, you don’t need to enter the password for login, your Window will boot directly to the desktop. If anytime you want to secure your user account again, disable the auto login. To do so, follow the above steps and check the box of ‘ Users must enter a username & password to use the computer.’
Way 3: Modify the Windows Registry and enable auto login.
Modifying the Windows Registry is quite risky, so it requires much caution. Backup your important data or transfer to another computer or device to prevent permanent loss. You can also use cloud storages like Google Drive, OneDrive, or others.
To modify the Windows Registry to enable auto login:
1.    Click ‘Start.’
2.    Click ‘Run.’
3.    Type ‘Regedt32.exe’ into it.
4.    Press ‘Enter’.
5.    Locate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon”.
6.    Click twice on ‘DefaultUserName’ entry.
7.    Enter your username.
8.    Click ‘OK.’
9.    Click twice on ‘DefaultPassword’ entry.
10.    Enter your password.
11.    Click ‘OK.’
If you’re not getting the entry, then you need to create it. Right-click on the blank space > select ‘New’ > go to String Value > Enter ‘DefaultPassword’ > hit ‘Enter’ > enter your password in the dialog box > click ‘OK’.
12.    Now, find the ‘AutoAdminLogon’ entry > edit value from 0 to 1 > click ‘OK’.
13.    Quit from ‘Registry Editor’.
After finishing all the steps, restart your PC. Now, the Windows will boot right to the desktop without requiring any password.
